building a morning routine that jumpstarts your day

I still remember the early days of my small business, when every morning was a chaotic scramble to get myself and my team ready to tackle the day. As the owner, I knew I had to set a good example, but my own morning routine was nonexistent. I’d wake up whenever, grab a cup of coffee, and stumble into the office. It wasn’t until I started prioritizing my mornings that things began to fall into place. My days became more productive, my stress levels decreased, and I even started enjoying the quiet time to myself before the chaos began.

One of the first things I changed was my oral care routine. I started using Freshmint Toothpaste and began paying attention to the little things, like brushing my teeth for the full recommended two minutes and flossing regularly. It may seem like a small thing, but taking care of my teeth gave me a sense of control and set the tone for the rest of my morning. From there, I started adding other activities to my routine, like going for a short walk or doing a few stretches to get my blood flowing.

starting small

When building a morning routine, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the things you could be doing. You could be meditating, journaling, exercising, or learning a new skill. The list goes on and on. But the key is to start small and focus on a few activities that bring you joy and set you up for success. For me, that meant starting with a consistent wake-up time and a good cup of coffee. From there, I could add or subtract activities as I saw fit.

finding what works for you

Everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Some people may thrive on a strict schedule, while others prefer a more relaxed approach. I’ve found that I do best with a gentle balance between structure and flexibility. I like to have a rough outline of what I want to accomplish in the morning, but I also leave room for spontaneity and change. This allows me to stay on track while still being able to adapt to unexpected situations.

making it a habit

The hardest part of building a morning routine is making it stick. It’s easy to get motivated and try something new for a few days, but it’s much harder to sustain that motivation over time. To make my morning routine a habit, I focused on creating an environment that supported my goals. I put my coffee maker in a convenient location, laid out my exercise clothes the night before, and even set reminders on my phone to help me stay on track. It wasn’t always easy, but with time and consistency, my morning routine became second nature.

  • start with small, achievable goals
  • be consistent and patient
  • find activities that bring you joy and fulfillment
  • create an environment that supports your habits
  • be gentle with yourself when you slip up

the benefits of a morning routine

the way you start your day sets the tone for the rest of it

As I look back on the past few years, I’m amazed at the impact that my morning routine has had on my life. I’m more productive, more confident, and more at peace. I’ve learned to appreciate the quiet moments to myself, and I’ve even started to enjoy the process of getting ready for the day. It’s not always easy, and some mornings are definitely better than others. But with a consistent morning routine, I know that I can tackle whatever comes my way.
